Landis+Gyr is a world leader in smart metering, energy management solutions, and related services.  It operates in over 30 countries and has more than 5000 employees worldwide.  One of its businesses focuses on producing, selling, and providing service for radiator gauges.

The Challenge:

  • Landis+Gyr’s process of reading radiator gauges demanded that field service workers enter each customer’s home
  • This process was inefficient and had lead to increased costs and wasted resources
  • Any solution needed to be robust enough to handle harsh work environments


The Solution:

  • Landis+Gyr implemented Psion Teklogix’ WORKABOUT PRO for its field service workers due to its flexibility and ruggedness
  • The Hardware Developers Kit available for the WORKABOUT PRO enabled Landis+Gyr to build a radio module for the terminal which can read radiator gauges within a range of 30-100 metres
  • Now, all relevant data is sent to the WORKABOUT PRO via a radio signal without field service workers having to leave their car
